Immobilizer and other warning lights on Audi A4 | AUDI

Hello,

On my A4, the immobilizer light comes on from time to time, then logically the engine does not start.

After 4-5 times, the engine starts and everything is fine.

Today, however, while driving, the traction control system and oil indicator lit up and the engine speed was sometimes off.

My question is, is it true that the immobilizer on my vehicle is installed in the speedometer?

And apparently an open solder joint is the reason why the immobilizer lights up again and again.

Thanks

The user describes a problem with the immobilizer and other warning lights on their Audi A4 and asks if the immobilizer is located in the instrument cluster and if a bad solder joint could be the cause.

The answer certainly helped me regarding the system (integrated immobilizer). I removed the speedometer, disassembled the rear cover, and resoldered the cold solder joints. Assembled it back together, and the problem is solved.

Check the exciter coil or the exciter coil connector. The exciter coil is located directly around the ignition lock, where there is a small connector. Disconnect the connector, inspect the contacts, apply a touch of contact spray and try again.

    Try the spare key

    I already have. No difference.

Have you done a diagnostic scan or an actuator test? I can help you with that in Cologne if that would be a convenient location for you.

I had the same problem with my B5 from time to time. Loose contact in the reading coil! I hit the steering column cover once and it worked again. Checking the connector contacts and using contact spray would be a really good approach 👍☺

Hello, with my A4 it was the "little cable" from the reading coil/ignition lock to the immobilizer
