The user is asking if they should replace their car's UPC (central protection unit) and whether a used unit would be suitable.

Christian G. Used would also work. May need to be programmed.
OpenGelöschter N. It is possible that a cable is defective in the bend of the tailgate. A used UPC is possible, but it must be configured at Renault.
Gelöschter N. Ah, I forgot. There is the limit switch error, so to speak, the detection of the end position idea point "Zero"
Roland Have you checked the wiper arm fixing nut? If they are loose (e.g. not properly installed during replacement), this may be the cause of your problem.
OpenAlexander M. Sorry, forgot to mention that it is about the windshield. According to our Renault dealer, a UPC can only be coded once.
Alexander M. I disconnected the cable, but there was no power. Neither at the fuse in the interior, nor at the fuse in the UPC, nor at the cable on the windshield wiper motor.
1Gelöschter N. Okay..overlooked. The UPC can only be programmed to one VIN, so it shouldn't be a problem. The coding of type etc (it's not much) is not the problem.
It is only imperative that it be the same part number. Even if it is, a new one is not expensive. And if the diagnosis is clear…
Alexander M. That's where the fun really begins. I searched the internet, local scrap dealers, and abroad for the same part number, but the market is quite meager. A new UPC without coding costs 'only' €398. Otherwise, you could have gotten the used part for €50. But Renault's coding only works on uncoded parts. I already asked Renault, and they said very desperately that they were sorry and that they knew very well that the car wasn't worth putting so much money into it.
Mario M. I know that the ground (negative) burns out on these wiper motors. Provide the wiper housing with additional ground.
Gelöschter N. Then the wiper would no longer work at all.
Mario M. Not quite. The limit switch is not working because the ground is causing internal problems. The wiper stops somewhere.
Gelöschter N. It referred to a ground that is no longer there. In that case, it will be the shutdown. Knows itself after all.
Alexander M. Thank you all for your answers and advice. So far, I haven't had a chance to check everything. But one thing I can say is that as soon as I disconnect the ECU and reconnect it, it works again, but not in the first position, and it also stops in the middle. After that, it doesn't work at all.
Alexander M. Sorry, I meant the UPC.

The wiper motor was corroded on the inside. New motor in and done.
