Bernd F. Was the ECU not contaminated with oil before?
Measure the wiring under load between the sensor connector and the ECU...
Don't just check for continuity....

OpenMarcel K. How many kilometers does the vehicle have? Has the timing been checked? They are prone to failure on this vehicle.
1Rene Check if you have oil in the engine control unit. If so, first clean the engine control unit side and the connector side with brake cleaner and then plug them back together.
2Rene Carefully inspect the pins for a slight oil film, as this can cause a problem. Otherwise, check under load as described to ensure a perfect connection.
OpenChristian S. Mileage 173,000. Shouldn't the engine be jerking then?
Jürgen C. Measure cable, buy original
Hans V. Timing chain stretched!!
3Christian S. That was also my first guess. But shouldn't I also have noises when starting or when the engine is cold? I haven't noticed any loss of power when accelerating either. Why does the engine light keep going out by itself?
1Hans V. Take off the valve cover and you can see it right away.

So far, the engine light has remained off. I have replaced the camshaft position sensor B again. I hope it works this time.
