ABS light and no speedometer signal on Astra G | OPEL

Hello fellow car enthusiasts,

For weeks, the ABS light on my Astra G has been on, and I have no speedometer signal. The workshop said it was the ABS control unit because the light sometimes goes off when you wiggle the cable or connector on the control unit. However, I suspect a faulty sensor on the wheel hub. Does anyone have an idea? I don't want to replace parts without knowing for sure since both are very expensive. I would be very grateful for any help.

Check the wiring and connectors to the ABS sensors and control unit. A faulty wheel speed sensor is also possible.

Thank you for the helpful tips here. A very nice mechanic measured and checked everything, and it is indeed the ABS control unit (probably cold solder joints or similar). It will be sent in for inspection tomorrow. Thank you very much for the great support here. Regards.

Is there an error stored in the ABS control unit? Disconnect the connector from the ABS control unit; are the connector and pins clean? To test whether it is due to an ABS sensor, the signal from the individual sensors should be made visible on an oscilloscope to recognize regularity. Otherwise, I would call the technicians at www.ECU.de and describe your problem; the guys can certainly help you if it is due to the control unit itself.

Isn't the speed signal taken from the front right wheel speed sensor? Otherwise, check the sensor with an OBD tester that can do this or with an oscilloscope.

What is it like when braking hard into the ABS control range?

In most cases, it's the sensor. Please get another opinion before replacing the control unit.

The speed signal comes from the ABS control unit. The signal from the front left speed sensor is processed for this purpose. Check the wiring at the front left; if it is OK, the front left wheel bearing must be replaced.

Try a good OBD adapter and the app for Android "Scan my Opel". You can read the values of the individual wheel sensors there. I drive the same Opel and read everything myself.
