MAF sensor signal cuts out | OPEL

The MAF sensor signal cuts out. Then an error message is set and the check engine light comes on.

If I unplug the MAF sensor connector and plug it back in immediately while the engine is running, I can clear the fault memory via Obd.

The error reappears after a short time.

I have already replaced the MAF sensor several times.

Is the Astra warm or cold? Can your tester read the values directly? I once had one that had a cold solder joint in the control unit. After clearing it, I tapped the control unit lightly and the error came back.

In my experience, with Opels manufactured from 2000 onwards, the engine control unit is often "responsible" for such faults, because it is installed directly on the engine block.

And the problem usually occurs when the engine is warm.

I wish you every success with the repair.

    Hello Mr. Krause,

I had exactly the same symptoms with my Opel Astra. The cause for me was a dirty throttle valve. The crankcase ventilation is routed into the intake tract. The oil vapors that are discharged via the crankcase ventilation "coke up"; "black dirt" forms, which minimally blocks the moving parts, especially the valve. This disrupts the engine control - air-fuel mixture. To solve the problem: Remove the throttle valve, remove the black dirt with a brush and brake cleaner, lightly oil the moving parts at the pivot points with high-quality oil - e.g. Teflon oil, reinstall the throttle valve and clear the fault memory. This measure helped me. Good luck and let me know if it helped. Greetings from Hilden Engelbert

    Were the replaced parts original?

Yes, I can read the values. I'll try the light tapping tomorrow.

I lightly tapped the ECU. The fault immediately reappeared after being cleared.
