Oil filter stuck

Hey, I have a compressor where the oil filter is mega stuck. I've already destroyed 2 of my oil filter wrenches, easily 100 Nm. I've already heated it up, and rust remover has been applied several times. Maybe someone has a tip other than cutting it open. I want to avoid that because the chips get into the screw.

I hammered in a 20 mm round bar and heated it up, and now it's loose.

Puncture the oil filter with a large screwdriver and then try turning it on both sides, that way you have a better grip. It's broken anyway.

That didn't help, I'm just bending everything

either you're turning in the wrong direction, or you need to use a bigger screwdriver

Use a long measuring tool and then carefully mark the bottom edge...... But it should actually work with a screwdriver driven through it..... On the new filter, be sure to put some oil on the seal and don't over tighten it when tightening.

Then carefully saw the oil filter a little at the bottom, so you take some pressure off the thread, the rest should go by itself

Pound a large screwdriver through and then turn it vigorously to the left with both hands.

If all else fails, you need to heat it up strongly and then turn it.

I would avoid that. From then on, the compressor is out of service until the filter has been replaced. If 2 wrenches are already broken, the metal will also tear. Build something with a seat belt or a leather strap. At least try to start near the thread at the bottom.

Yes, it works great💪😁... I have a tip anyway: I've been using a large water pump pliers for a long time to loosen such filters. This allows enough force to be exerted on the filter and you have enough grip. I used to struggle with various filter wrenches etc.

I already removed it, but water pump pliers wouldn't have worked because the filter has a diameter of 170 mm 🙂

The correct solution would have been: Squeeze in the middle, then the bottom bulges like a soda can and the filter can be released 😉👍🏼

Just a counter-question: does that always work? I mean, couldn't it be that the filter then presses even tighter at one point and is then even more difficult to loosen?

I know what you mean. So far it has always worked. However, it is still not that easy to loosen, but I have managed to get them all open so far 😋👌🏼
