Buying advice | PEUGEOT RCZ

Hello everyone, I have had my eye on this car for a while now and I am thinking about buying one. Does anyone have experience with this car and know what I should pay attention to?

Hi Alex, I never had an RcZ myself, but I had a 207 Rc. They both have the 1.6l Turbo from the R56 Mini from BMW. To take away the joy right away, the Peugeot doesn't run nearly as aggressively and economically as the Mini. My wife had the Mini at the same time back then. I needed about 2l more per 100km. The engines often have problems with the timing chain and the tensioner.

Beautiful car, bad engine. I think that sums it up best. I've already had to "bury" three cars due to engine damage. These 1.6 THP engines are prone to timing chain issues, oil consumption, and piston damage. At least that's my experience.

Hi Alex, I have the same engine in my car. I can tell you that I had to change the timing chain at 160,000 km. In addition, the gasoline HP pump was added. But it can all be done in 2 days as a hobby mechanic. Now at 212,000 km I got an error message where I don't know yet what will come out of it. But I don't think there will be a car without problems. It's just stupid if you have to go to the workshop for everything. Then it gets expensive.

I took a test drive back when it was available at the dealer and was disappointed. It doesn't pull as well (torque). Furthermore, fuel consumption and extremely prone to timing chain issues, the turbo is also said not to be great, even the salesman advised me against buying it back then. You should rather look at an Audi TT or Nissan 350 / 380Z. If you want a sporty coupe.
